Question with 2 notes
dev-astating asked: Don't know if this helps but when studying Meiji Era i looked back at Tokugawa period (feudal Japan). They had books as they were writing novels at the time. Books and documents both existed. Everything was in script (Hiragana and Kanji...Katakana was not invented until Meiji Era). Note that women weren't taught to read Kanji, so if you're drawing an important document or what looks like a long book; to be historically accurate you may not want to draw a woman reading (bad as that sounds!)
thanks so much for the info! much appreciated and very helpful. :D
