help! any experts on Feudal Japan out there? does anybody know if there were conventional modern-type books in feudal Japan? did people read anything like that, or did they read scrolls or something, either for learning or entertainment?

i’m terrible at using google, i can’t find anything!!

  1. angelredflame said: I don’t know what to search for but I am pretty sure scrolls were more common because of the way japanese is written (top to bottom, right to left) and because they were made of more delicate paper. NOT an expert at all but I lived there a time.
