mothling asked: hi ross! i'm absolutely loving seeing your art evolve over the years! you've remained a constant inspiration for me for a long time! i was just wondering about your work process, and specifically writing. you mentioned in a recent ask that you're tinkering with the wet moon #7 script, and i was just wondering what your scripting process normally entails? do you have certain writing routines you stick to? how long does it take you to put together a script on average? thanks!
hi! thank you! :D
my process is pretty straightforward, i think. here’s a blog post i did a while ago that has some script and thumbnail stuff in it: here
i usually start with a bunch of ideas written down in a Word file, like the main things i want to do in the book plus a lot of little less important ideas, then i open a second file and put them side by side and i prune the first file as i copy it down into the second file and write all the random ideas into an outline. then i do the same two-files-side-by-side thing with the outline and the script. how long it takes me varies a lot, it really depends on whether i’m feeling the script or if i get stumped, but maybe a month or two on average, not counting any revisions or new versions i might do.
